MA Financial’s three story office on top of Brookfield Place in Sydney’s CBD has been recognised as the best interior fit-out at the prestigious Master Builders Association of NSW Excellence in Construction Awards.

Builder FDC Fitout and Refurbishment was named the winner of the Interior Fitout category in the $10 million to $20 million range.

MA Financial’s Sydney’s headquarters features a double-height boardroom located on the top floor, with sweeping views of the city. The space features a classic neutral colour palette and bespoke timber features awash in natural light. Surrounding the client floor is a customised 600sqm undercover terrace and entertainment area for visitors and employees including outdoor work and meeting spaces, a bar, BBQ and multiple seating and dining areas with a city backdrop.

MA Financial’s COO, Janna Robertson, who managed the project, said FDC deserved the award for their high-quality work on the project.

“We asked our design and construction teams to push the boundaries of a typical office design and they have done just that – providing us with a unique space that meets the needs of our people. We are extremely pleased with the result,” Ms Robertson said.

“A number of bespoke design elements have been included that required significant effort from the FDC team. The attention to detail, quality and level of finish is exceptional.”

MA Financial Group is a diversified financial services firm that had outgrown its previous offices in Farrer Place. The firm’s leadership team knew they didn’t want their new workspace to feel like a typical corporate environment and deliberately partnered with a design firm that specialises in creating hospitality spaces.

“We designed the office to create spaces where our clients and employees can seamlessly co-habit, whether working, learning or relaxing. The space is frequently used by our philanthropy partners allowing all levels of the organisation to engage with the community in a meaningful way.

We have a choice of work settings, from standing height open meetings, lounge style meetings and collaborative settings. AV is integrated throughout the office to make the spaces more flexible,” added Ms Robertson.

The financial services firm is growing at a rapid rate with more than 30% of employees having joined in the last year. The new office has been designed to promote collaboration amongst its team members, ensuring MA Financial remains agile and effective.

The three-story office includes a commercial kitchen and catering, barista coffee, employee kitchenettes, a range of meeting rooms, open plan work areas, sit to stand desks, gym and shower facilities, podcast rooms and a broadcast suite. These elements are linked via an impressive intertenancy stairwell.

The Master Builders Association of NSW Excellence in Construction Awards is recognised in the industry as the most prestigious awards for commercial, industrial and civil engineering sectors.
